All plans are billed in New Zealand dollars. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, and you can cancel any time before renewal.
Tōtara comes with 5 team seats included. What counts toward those 5 depends on one thing: is your hub for your own people, or for the public?
Restricted hub (your own team only) All 5 seats can be any mix of Viewer, Creator, or Admin. Everyone with access to your hub counts, including people who only ever watch content and never create anything.
Open (public) hub The 5 seats cover Creator and Admin roles only, including you as hub owner. Members of the public who view your resources are unlimited and free, no matter how many there are.
The question that decides everything: is this hub for your own people, or is it for the public? Your own people, and it's restricted, everyone counts. Public, and it's open, only your creators and admins count.
Two things, and that's it:
Extra seats on a restricted Tōtara hub. If you need more than 5 people to have any kind of access (viewing, creating, or admin), additional seats are $12/month each.
Upgrading tiers. Moving from Tipu to Tōtara, or from Tōtara to Ngahere, changes what you pay to that tier's rate.
Nothing else increases your bill. There are no hidden fees, no charges for storage, and no per-resource costs on top of your plan.
A note if you're not sure how many seats you'll need: start with the 5 included and add seats as your real numbers confirm, rather than guessing high upfront.
If your organisation is a non-profit, iwi, hapū, or kaupapa Māori organisation, get in touch before you subscribe. We work with organisations like yours on a koha basis, on terms that reflect your kaupapa, not a standard commercial rate.
This isn't a discounted or stripped-down version of Tōtara. It's full access, worked out through a conversation, not a self-serve checkout.
Kōrero with us to talk through what fits your organisation.
You can cancel at any time before your renewal date. If you choose not to renew, your organisation's hub returns to Kākano-level access at the end of your billing period. Nothing is deleted, your resources, branding, and hub settings are all retained, so resubscribing restores everything with minimal extra work. You'll get a notification explaining what's changed and what to do next, including choosing which one resource to keep published under the free plan.
Is $699 (or $180, or my Ngahere quote) a one-off cost, or will I pay more later? It's an annual subscription, not a one-off. You'll pay that amount each year unless you upgrade tiers or add extra seats on a restricted Tōtara hub.
Can I pay monthly instead of annually? Yes, on both Tipu and Tōtara. Monthly billing costs more over a year than paying annually, so if you're planning to stick around, annual is the better value.
What if I'm not sure whether my hub should be restricted or open? Come back to the one question above: is this hub for your own people, or for the public? If you're still not sure, get in touch and we'll help you work it out before you commit to a seat count.
Can I switch from restricted to open later, and would that change what I pay? Yes, and it doesn't change what you pay. What sets your price is your plan (Tipu, Tōtara, or Ngahere), not whether your hub is restricted or open.
