Transfer ownership of your organisation hub to trusted team members while maintaining continuity and control. This feature allows you to pass leadership responsibilities to others while ensuring they have the tools and permissions needed to manage your learning community effectively.
What this does: Safely transfers full ownership of your organisation hub to another user, giving them complete administrative control while offering options to maintain your involvement.
Why it matters: Ensures your organisation's knowledge-sharing initiatives can continue under new leadership while respecting relationships and maintaining community trust.
Access Organisation Settings
Navigate to your organisation hub
Click "Settings" or the settings icon
Select "Organisation Settings" from the menu
Find Transfer Ownership
Look for the "Transfer Ownership" section
Click "Transfer Ownership" button
Select New Owner
Enter the email address of the intended new owner
Add a personal message explaining the transfer
Click "Send Transfer Request"
For the person receiving ownership:
Check Your Settings
Log into your Kaha Create account
Navigate to Settings from your profile menu
Click "Organisation Settings"
Look for "Incoming Ownership Transfers" section
Review the Transfer Request
See details about the organisation being transferred
Read any message from the current owner
Review current membership and content
When accepting ownership:
Accept the Transfer
Click "Accept Transfer" on the pending request
Confirm you understand the responsibilities
Choose Previous Owner's Role
Keep as Admin: Maintains their access to manage content and members
Remove from Organisation: Removes their access completely
Select your preference and confirm
Access Your New Organisation
Switch organisations from your profile menu
Access all existing resources and content
Begin managing as the new owner
Add new members to the organisation
Remove existing members
Assign administrative roles
Manage member permissions
Edit all existing Shareables and resources
Create new learning content
Manage organisation branding and settings
Control access and sharing permissions
Update organisation details and settings
Manage billing and subscription (if applicable)
Transfer ownership to others in the future
Archive or delete the organisation
Communicate clearly: Discuss the transfer with your intended recipient beforehand
Document processes: Share any important operational knowledge
Review content: Ensure all materials are appropriate for the new owner
Plan transition: Coordinate timing to minimise disruption
Trust your recipient: Only transfer to people you completely trust
Verify email address: Double-check the recipient's email before sending
Consider keeping admin access: Stay involved if you want to maintain oversight
Backup important content: Download any critical materials before transferring
Solutions:
Verify you entered the correct email address
Ask them to check their Organisation Settings > Incoming Ownership Transfers
Ensure they have a Kaha Create account with that email address
Check their spam/junk folder for notification emails
Solutions:
Contact the recipient immediately to ask them not to accept
If they haven't accepted yet, you may be able to cancel the request
Contact support for assistance with urgent transfers
The recipient can transfer back to you if they've already accepted
Solutions:
Ensure you're the current owner of the organisation
Check you're in the correct organisation's settings
Refresh the page and try again
Contact support if the option isn't visible
A: Transfer requests may be cancellable before the recipient accepts. Check your organisation settings or contact support for assistance.
A: All content remains in the organisation. If you choose to keep admin access, you can still edit your materials. If you're removed, you'll lose access to organisation content.
A: Yes, you can invite anyone with a valid email address to become the new owner. They'll need to create a Kaha Create account if they don't have one.
A: The new owner can initiate a transfer back to you using the same process. You'll receive the transfer request in your settings.
A: Transferring ownership is free. Any subscription or billing arrangements will transfer to the new owner.
A: Currently, only one person can own an organisation at a time. However, you can assign multiple administrators with similar permissions.
