Why restrict your hub? A restricted hub means only people you've invited can view and access your content. This is useful if your knowledge is for a specific whānau, team, organisation, or kaupapa community only.
Step 1: Access Hub Settings Go to Settings in your Profile Menu, then Hub Settings.
Step 2: Find the Access Control Toggle In settings, you'll see a toggle Public and Restricted. This determines who can view your hub. By default, hubs are set to public - meaning anyone can see them.
Step 3: Toggle to Restricted To make your hub restricted (private), simply tap or click the toggle to change the setting from public to restricted.
Step 4: Save Your Settings Click Save settings to confirm your changes
Once your hub is restricted, only people you invite will be able to view or access your resources. You can manage who has access by inviting members to join your hub.
How to Invite Users
Step 1: Open Hub Settings Click Hub Settings in your Profile Menu.
Step 2: Choose Your Invitation Method
You have two options depending on how many people you need to invite:
Option A: Invite One Member at a Time
Click Invite Member
Enter the person's email address
They'll receive an invitation to join your hub
Once they accept, they'll have full access to your resources
Option B: Invite Multiple Members Using Bulk Invite
Click Bulk Invites
Upload a CSV file containing email addresses of all the people you want to invite
The system will send invitations to everyone on your list
Members will receive invitations and can join once they accept
Step 3: Members Accept Their Invitations Invited members will receive an email asking them to join your hub. Once they accept the invitation, they'll have access to all your resources.
When you invite people to your hub, you'll need to assign them an access level. Each level has different permissions:
Viewer Viewers can access and learn from all the resources in your hub, but they cannot create, edit, or manage content. Choose this access level for team members, whānau, students, or anyone who should participate in the learning.
Creator Creators can access and learn from all resources in the hub, and they can also create and upload new content. If you invite community contributors as Creators, they'll have full access to view and learn from all existing knowledge in the hub, as well as the ability to add their own resources. Only invite people as Creators if you want them to contribute content to your hub.
Admin Admins have full control of the hub, including managing members, settings, and all content. Only assign this level to people you fully trust to manage your hub.
Choosing the Right Access Level
If you're inviting team members or learners to participate in the learning, add them as Viewers
If you're inviting community contributors who will add content to your hub, add them as Creators — they'll also be able to access all existing knowledge in the hub
If you need a different kind of access level for your use case, contact our support team at

Once restricted, anyone who tries to view your hub will see a message letting them know the hub is restricted access. The message will also direct them to contact you if they think they should have access.
This means:
Only people you've invited can view the content
Others will see a message explaining it's restricted
They'll know how to request access from you
Invite your people: Decide who needs access and send them an invitation to join
Choose your method: Use Invite Member for small groups or Bulk Invites for larger teams
Control your knowledge: Keep your mātauranga safe and share only with those who need it
Make decisions carefully: Consider who in your whānau, team, or organisation should have access
